MTB: Quarteirense Beatriz Guerra comes 4th in the Shimano Supercup stage

Stage was held in Banyoles, in Spain

Beatriz Guerra from Quarteira was fourth today in the Banyoles (Spain) stage of the Shimano Supercup XCO, where she represented the National Olympic Cross Country Team (XCO), in the junior category.

The Algarve athlete completed the four laps in 58m31s, 2m17s more than Maruša Tereza Šerkezi, the Slovenian athlete who won the race in the junior category.

Also today, on Sunday, Ana Santos stood out in the same race, securing ninth place in the under-23 category, «in an important race considering the qualification ranking for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games».

Ana Santos finished the five laps of the course in 1h13m36s, 1m44s more than Kira Böhm, the winner in this category.

«Both tests went according to expectations. The level of the athletes present is very high and our runners performed at a good level. However, given their quality and potential, they can aim for more in the future. Overall, the action was positive and in line with the objectives set», analyzed Pedro Vigário, national mountain bike selector.

Also in the competition, but serving their respective clubs, were the Portuguese Raquel Queirós and Roberto Ferreira.

Raquel Queirós was 15th among the elites, with 1h32m03s, 8m45s behind the best time, while Roberto Ferreira was 46th, with 1h34m41s, 8m42s.
