Booktokers went to Castro Marim to talk to young people about books

This initiative was promoted by the Municipal Library of Castro Marim

Four booktokers, young people who created content on social media that encourages reading, were this Friday, February 2nd, at the Castro Marim Library, to challenge young people's relationship with books.

The main objective, says the Chamber of Castro Marim, was «to encourage reading, making known books and authors suited to the public's tastes and age group. But this initiative went further, deconstructing the theory of the antithesis between the digital world and literature».

Booktokers, or bookinfluencers, are content creators on social media, namely TikTok and Instagram, and, at the same time, avid readers.

In this Friday's session were the booktokers Íris Bicho (@didi.books_), Mariana Nunes (@chroniclesofmariana), Miguel Gonçalves (@capitulo_m_geekhouse) and Loulé native Rita Chumbinho (@bnblibrary).

The entire 3rd cycle of the Castro Marim School Group was in attendance.

This initiative was promoted by the Castro Marim Municipal Library and included the participation of the book and reading promotion project – “Entrelinhas: literary conversations for fearless readers”, from the Dr. Estanco Louro Municipal Library, in São Brás de Alportel.
