One hundred and seventeen students from the University of Algarve will be awarded an excellence scholarship, in a public session that begins at 15:30 pm on February 8, in the Caixa Geral de Depósitos Grand Auditorium, on the Gambelas Campus.
The scholarship fully pays the tuition fee for the 1st year of the Bachelor's and/or Integrated Master's degree, set at 697 euros.
This edition had the participation of 58 companies and monetary support of 81 euros. Since its beginning, in the 549/2012 academic year, the initiative has awarded 13 students, totaling support of more than 667 thousand euros.
To award the scholarship, all students who entered UAlg through the National Competition for Access to Higher Education were automatically selected, in the first option, with an application grade equal to or greater than 17 points.
Students placed with the best classification in the respective course, who entered with an application grade equal to or greater than 15, were ranked for this assignment.
With this initiative, UAlg says it intends to «motivate the best students to continue their training at this Academy, providing them with quality education».
«Inserted within a framework of social responsibility, these scholarships represent an important sign of recognition of merit for the work carried out by these students, in addition to constituting significant help for families to bear the costs of raising their students», highlights the University of Algarve.
