Lifeguard certification validity extended until the end of the year

The Shipwrecked Aid Institute (ISN) has extended the validity of lifeguard certification until December 31st, announced this Tuesday, January 23rd, the National Maritime Authority.

Therefore, all lifeguard cards that expire between January 1, 2024 and December 30, 2024 will be considered valid, with this measure also being applied to additional modules to the lifeguard course.

In a note, the National Maritime Authority explains that this measure was taken by ISN as regulatory entity for matters related to assistance to swimmers, the lifeguard legal regime and within the scope of its powers as an entity with certification responsibility. of lifeguards.

This authority also states that, as a certifying entity for the professional activity of lifeguard, ISN will carry out Specific Technical Aptitude Examination (EEAT) sessions for the purposes of recertification in the categories of lifeguard and lifeguard coordinator.

At the beginning of the year, new orders came into force regulating the recertification processes for the category of lifeguard and lifeguard coordinator, as well as the process of recognizing training obtained outside Portugal.
