Quarteira debates whether “accessibility is just a ramp”

The topics under debate are related to the main existing physical barriers and good practices to be followed as public agents and in direct contact with people with disabilities.

The event “«Is accessibility just a ramp?”, which will address the themes of mobility and inclusion, will take place this Sunday, January 21st, at 15pm, in the Auditorium of the Centro Autárquico de Quarteira.

Moderated by Catarina Oliveira, nutritionist by profession, better known on social media as especierarasobrerodas, the session's speakers are João Varela, regional coordinator of the Algarve Delegation of the CVI Association, Paulo Teixeira, president of the APPC Board Faro, and Joana Afonso, Orientation and Mobility technician, from ACAPO Faro.

The topics under discussion are related to the main existing physical barriers and good practices to be followed as public agents and in direct contact with people with disabilities.

«Accessibility must mean equality and this must be a concern for all of us. It is in our hands, with due knowledge, to work towards creating dignified and easily accessible conditions for everyone» says Telmo Pinto, president of the Quarteira Parish Council.

The mayor highlights the importance of this event to open mentalities and provide growth in these areas and the correct way to act.

The event, organized by the Parish Council, is free to enter and will be broadcast live on the municipality's social networks, accompanied by Portuguese sign language interpreters.
