The “Terra & Mar” exhibition, which brings together works by four Portuguese photographers João Mariano, Maria Oliveira, Nuno Cera and Vasco Célio, opens on January 25th, at the “In The Pink” gallery, in Loulé.

In this exhibition, the artists share a visual journey where the land meets the sea, in an invitation to immerse viewers into the fabric of our country, in the stories woven between landscapes and people, and in the way in which the tides and winds defined the way of people working and living in Portugal.

Nuno Cera's series captures the eternal encounter between sea and land, by freezing precise moments of breaking waves or caves that suggest both the infinite dimension of the sea and crossings into the unknown.

João Mariano portrays the ancestral ways of inhabiting this country. From the challenging life of barnacle catchers on sharp rocky shores to the intricate process of making medronho in mountainous regions.

Maria Oliveira's works narrate the poetic struggle to tame the tides in salt production and reveal the fragility of those who live off the land, rescuing the beauty of the simplest moments.

The “Hidden Book of Odds”, by Vasco Célio, reveals the poetry of the everyday and peculiar look, which plays with the tension between the self and the different. The works reveal the spectacular in the ordinary, encouraging viewers to re-examine their surroundings in search of untold stories.

The exhibition can be visited from Tuesday to Friday, from 11:00 am to 19:00 pm, and on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 14:00 pm.
