The Municipal Assembly of Lagoa approved, on December 27th, the delegation of powers, the use and occupation of public roads and the licensing of the posting of advertising of a commercial nature from the City Council to the Parish Councils and Unions.
According to the Lagoa Chamber, «these are two competencies that were previously the responsibility of the Parish Councils and Unions and which were an important source of revenue».
In addition to the transfer of public space management and advertising licensing, Lagoa City Council is negotiating with the Parish Councils and Unions the transfer of other competencies, such as the management and maintenance of green spaces, cleaning of roads and public spaces, gutters and drains, among others.
In addition to these transfers of competences, the Municipal Council of Lagoa will celebrate with the Parish Councils and Unions inter-administrative contracts for the delegation of competences for specific projects of a social and cultural nature, as well as to increase the effectiveness of administrative action (principle of decentralization and subsidiarity).
