Man displaced after fire in his house in the municipality of Mértola

The house “completely burned down”

A 36-year-old man was left homeless today due to a fire in his home, which was destroyed, in Santana de Cambas, in the municipality of Mértola (district of Beja), Civil Protection and the GNR revealed.

Speaking to the Lusa agency, a source from the Baixo Alentejo Sub-regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command said that the alert was given to firefighters at 04:57 am, with the fire being considered extinguished at 06:45 am.

“It was a house fire, in a single-story house in Santana de Cambas”, added the source.

The house “completely burned down” and the man who lived there “was left homeless”, said the Civil Protection source, while another GNR source, contacted by Lusa, stated that the homeless man was 36 years old.

The fire involved the mobilization of a total of 12 operatives, supported by four vehicles, from the firefighters and the GNR.
