A Ryanair plane, which was traveling between Luton, in the United Kingdom, and Lanzarote, in the Canaries, was diverted to Faro, this Friday morning, due to disrespect caused by a group of 8 passengers inside the aircraft. One of them was detained by the PSP for disobedience and resistance and coercion against an employee.

In a statement, the PSP said that, «at 11:30 am, it was called to intervene inside an aircraft, which was traveling between Luton and Lanzarote, diverging towards the Airport of Faro, due to the presence of 8 disorderly passengers».

According to the police, the passengers were “causing disrespect, in particular shouting and repeatedly banging on the doors of cabin luggage, as well as drinking alcoholic beverages, ignoring the instructions given by the flight crew”.

«After being instructed by the Aircraft Commander to remove the unruly passengers, the PSP contacted them and ordered them to leave, explaining to them the reasons why they would have to abandon the aircraft. Following the order given, 7 of these passengers left without resistance», says the security force.

However, explains the PSP, «one of the unruly passengers adopted hostile and aggressive behavior, refusing to leave, repeatedly disobeying the orders given to him», which led to his arrest and removal from the aircraft «using the use of of physical strength given the constant resistance offered».

The man was arrested for the crimes of “disobedience”, “resistance and coercion against an employee” and was notified to appear in court.
