“Emergency services, when and how to use them, so as not to overload” is the motto of the next information session of the 360º Algarve Mental Health Project, which is free, open to everyone, and takes place in the auditorium of the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve (CHUA), on January 15th, at 15 pm.
«The overload of emergency services has been widely debated in recent days. Even with some contingency measures, the consequences of this scenario translate into long hours of waiting for users and severely impact the response capacity of health units, putting into question the care of truly urgent situations", reinforces the Mental Health 360º Project Algarve, which organizes this activity, part of the ''Saúde em Dia'' activity.
The session will be led by Rita Sequeira, a specialist nurse at CHUA, who aims to raise awareness of the importance of reducing inappropriate or avoidable use of hospital emergency services, presenting safe and quality alternatives.
«This initiative results from a pressing need among our users and the population in general to know how we should rationally use emergency services. It is increasingly important to invest in health literacy and in empowering citizens to navigate the health system and make their health decisions responsibly. All of this contributes to improving the quality of life of citizens and the sustainability of the health system”, says Ricardo Valente Santos, psychologist and manager of the Saúde Mental 360º Algarve project.
The “Saúde em Dia” information sessions aim to enlighten the Algarve population on important topics related to the area of health and disease prevention and management, through simple and objective communication, which demystifies some concepts. To do this, they count on the important support of health professionals and patient associations associated with Plataforma Saúde em Diálogo, who join together in this mission to promote the quality of life and well-being of the elderly community in the Algarve.
The initiative is free and open to the general public, and registrations must be made here
