The Loulé Carnival parade returns to the city streets on the 11th, 12th and 13th of February, this year with the theme “Discovering the SDGs”.

«Playing with serious and current subjects, but in a pedagogical way, is something that is in the DNA of this event and, in this sense, the oldest corso in the country brings this year the theme “Discovering the SDGs”, promoting in the parade of three days the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda», explains the Loulé municipality in a note.

There will be no shortage of fun, good cheer, color and music and political, social and sporting satire in this parade, which will consist of 14 floats and more than 600 extras.

The objective is that the 17 SDGs – which include, for example, eradicating poverty, promoting gender equality, quality education, climate action, creating sustainable cities and communities or promoting peace, justice and effective institutions – are in highlighted at this party.

The figures and themes of current political life will also return to the Loulé sambadrome.

«This is not the first time that the long-awaited new Lisbon airport has inspired the Loulé Corso. In 2024, to the options Vendas Novas, Santarém, Montijo, Alcochete, Pegões or Beja, there is also the possibility that Loulé will receive this airport... Of course, all this is nothing more than the famous Loulé parody that, once again, plays with the national political situation», reveals the Municipality.

Rising interest rates and their impact on home loans are parodied in one of the floats.

Zé Povinho will be the puppet of the president of the European Central Bank, who has been the face of these increases and the bearer of the bad news. This car features another crew member, Mário Centeno, former Minister of Finance and the current governor of the Bank of Portugal.

In the international context, the two wars that have marked recent months are also portrayed on a float with Vladimir Putin, Volodymyr Zelensky and Joe Biden as crew.

In the sporting world, the fight for the presidency of FC Porto will also be highlighted.

Furthermore, there will be no shortage of Brazilian dancers with samba, frantic drumming and local entertainment groups.

As is already tradition, Loulé Carnival once again has a solidarity nature.

Tickets cost 2 euros and proceeds go to the associations participating in the parade (50%) and IPSS (50%).
