91% of MAR2020 projects for the Algarve have already been executed

CCDR announced

1592 projects approved, an execution rate of 91% and a total investment of 92 million euros and public support of 69 million euros. These are some of the numbers from MAR2020, in the Algarve, on December 31st, revealed the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission.

According to the Algarve CCDR, the execution of projects approved for the Algarve is higher than the national figure, which is at 90%.

In the Algarve region, measures associated with aquaculture (priority axis 2) are the most represented, corresponding to 22% of total applications and more than 41% of investment in regional terms.

«These investments originate from more than a thousand existing structures in the region, mainly located in the prohibited areas (Ria Formosa and Alvor) and dedicated to the production of bivalves, to which are added the offshore aquaculture production units licensed between Sagres and Vila Real of Santo António", according to the CCDR.

«In priority axis 5, whose domain is the activity of operators in the fishing, aquaculture and processing sector, we have the largest number of applications submitted (around 48% of applications in the region)», he added.

«The high number of applications in this axis is due to the fact that support was created aimed at all operators in the fishing, aquaculture and processing sectors to compensate for the increase in energy costs and other production costs, due to to the effects of the pandemic and which were felt in the exercise of this activity in an aggravated way as a result of the conflict in Europe between Russia and Ukraine», concluded the same entity.

Axes 4 and 1 «translate the activity of the Barlavento and Sotavento Coastal Action Groups, and investments on board, in fishing ports, landing sites in shelters and auctions and compensation for temporary cessations, respectively».
