University of Algarve distinguished with “Voluntary Academy Quality Seal 2023-2024″

International Volunteer Day, celebrated on December 5th, was established by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in 1985

The University of Algarve was distinguished, on the 5th of December, with the “Voluntary Academy Quality Seal 2023-2024”, awarded by CASES (Cooperativa António Sérgio for the Social Economy), to several Higher Education institutions (HEIs), in a ceremony in Vila Nova de Gaia.

To receive the distinction attributed to the University of Algarve, Conceição Ribeiro, professor at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia and Coordinator of the Volunteer Group at the University of Algarve, UAlg V+, and Graça Rafael, employee of the Social Action Services and member of UAlg, were present at the ceremony. V+.

The rector of UAlg Paulo Águas, in his speech on UAlg's 44th anniversary, presented the Seal to the entire community, thus highlighting the importance of this distinction, and inviting everyone present to sign up for the UAlg V+ Group.

The UAlg V+ Volunteer Group meets UAlg's mission and strategic plan, responding to 16 of the 17 SDGs, constituting an open service to the community, responding to the needs and interests of all those involved in the Academy and institutions partners.

The Volunteer Group plays an important role as a bridge between institutions in the region (and beyond) that seek it and volunteer members who wish to contribute their time and dedication.

This seal attests to the quality of the University of Algarve as a voluntary academy and certifies that UAlg meets the criteria of a University that stands out for the work carried out in promoting the practice of volunteering. The UAlg V+ Group has already established itself as one of the reference groups in the national panorama of volunteering in higher education.
