Thirty-nine emergency services across the country will be limited next week, including some more critical areas, such as Via Verde AVC, the Executive Directorate of the National Health Service (DE-SNS) indicated yesterday.

According to the new plan to reorganize the SNS emergency services network, for the period between the 3rd and 9th of December, next week there will be changes in some points of the network, with 44 emergency services remaining fully operational (53%), and in the other 39 there will be constraints in some specialties.

In relation to the current week, there are three more emergency services that will have constraints from Sunday onwards.

The plan indicates that the specialties with the most constraints in emergencies are general surgery, pediatrics, orthopedics and gynecology and obstetrics, but there are five hospitals that present limitations in the Via Verde AVC emergencies on some days, namely Viana do Castelo, Guimarães, Guarda, Leiria , Santarém and Garcia de Orta, in Almada.

The Alentejo Region has one of 12 limited emergency points and in the Algarve two of the six emergency rooms will be limited.

In the North Region, which has 29 emergency points, 13 emergencies will be affected in some specialties. In the Center, eight of the 17 points will be limited and in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Region, 15 of the 19 emergency rooms will be operating subject to some specialties.

In the document, the Executive Directorate of the National Health Service highlights that next week “will be important to assess the effects of recent agreements with doctors and the impacts they may have on the organization of scales, in order to plan the response until the end of the year".
