Civil Protection simulates plane crash to test Portimão Aerodrome Intervention Plan

The Civil Protection of the Algarve will test, this Tuesday, December 19th, at 14:30 pm, the Prior Intervention Plan (PPI) for the Portimão Municipal Aerodrome, in the face of the simulation of the crash of a passenger transport plane inside the perimeter of this infrastructure.

The 20 occupants, made up of teenagers from the Technical Civil Protection Course at Escola Secundária Poeta António Aleixo and the Theater Course at Escola da Bemposta, along with a scenario prepared with the Municipal Civil Protection Service of Portimão, will allow testing the response of Civil Protection agents, who will act as if it were a real situation, reinforcing the Aerodrome's internal resources, which also puts its Emergency Plan to the test.

This initiative is part of the calendar of civil protection exercises promoted by the Algarve Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command and aims to test the response in this region's airport infrastructure, therefore, the exercise will be developed in the LIVEX (Live Exercise) modality, with movement of resources from the different forces of the Integrated Protection and Relief Operations Device (DIOPS) in the Algarve.

The moment will feature the participation of the Fire Departments, the National Institute of Medical Emergency and the Portuguese Red Cross, the National Republican Guard, the Public Security Police and the National Maritime Authority, as well as the Portimão unit of the Algarve University Hospital Center (CHUA) .
