Orchestral concerts, the traditional New Year's show, in Loulé, and two concerts with maestro Bruno Borralhinho. The Orquestra do Algarve will have a series of concerts in December and at the beginning of the year.
The first is already scheduled for this long weekend. On Saturday, December 9th, Bruno Borralhinho will give a concert from 18pm, at the Gambelas Campus of the University of Algarve.
Under the direction of conductor and cellist Bruno Borralhinho, OAlgarve Orchestra will perform works by authors such as Frederick Delius, Joseph Haydn and Ludwing Van Beethoven.
The concert, which is free to enter, follows a theme that tells the story of fire as a source of light and enlightenment, culminating in one of Beethoven's most energetic and expansive scores.
On Sunday, 10th, Bruno Borralhinho will conduct another concert, but at the Sé de Silves, starting at 19pm.
Tickets cost 7,5 euros and will be on sale on site.
Conductor and cellist Bruno Borralhinho is one of the most acclaimed Portuguese names in Europe, where his career alternates between the podium and the cello. Based in Germany, Borralhinho performed concerts to enormous critical acclaim and usually develops his activity in Portugal with the National Symphony Orchestra or Gulbenkian Orchestra.
This will be your debut in the Algarve.
This will be followed, from December 15th, by a set of Christmas orchestral concerts, with conductor Jan Wierza and violinist Laurentiu Simões.
On the 15th, the concert will be at the Albufeira Municipal Auditorium, at 21:30 pm, and, the following day, at the Igreja Matriz Nossa Senhora da Graça, in Moncarapacho, from 19:00 pm.
On the 17th, the show will take place, starting at 16pm, at the S. Pedro do Mar Church, in Quarteira, and, on the 00st, at Gago Coutinho Airport, starting at 21am.
That same day, there will be another show, but at 18pm, at the Loulé Municipal Market.
When it comes to orchestral concerts, there will also be shows dedicated to Orchestral Suite no. 3 by JS Bach, a prelude to this festive season.
Then the Magnificat, by Bach, will light up the night, inviting orchestra, choir and soloists for a musical experience.
The shows are on December 22nd, at 19pm, at the Centro Cultural de Lagos, with tickets on sale on here, and on the 23rd, at 21:30 pm, at Igreja do Carmo (Tavira), with free entry.
For the beginning of the year, the now traditional New Year's concert is planned, at Cineteatro Louletano, on January 1st, with sessions at 16pm and 00pm.
These concerts will be conducted by guest conductor Pablo Urbina.
