New water point in Ameixial will support firefighting

The land was transferred by the owner to the Municipality of Loulé

A new water point next to Miradouro do Caldeirão (Sítio do Feitoso), in the parish of Ameixial, in Loulé, will help fight fires.

The land was transferred by the owner to Loulé City Council, which created this new water point with the support of the Serra do Caldeirão Forestry Producers Association.

This structure, located in a 6-hectare retention basin, with a flooded area of 1750 square meters and an average height of 5 meters, reinforces support for air and land resources, as part of the Integrated Rural Fire Management System.

In a note, the Loulé municipality explains that the construction of this water point and its access path was made with local natural materials and that the work included the creation of crossing areas to safeguard the crossing of combat vehicles.

«The Municipality of Loulé is therefore pursuing a concerted strategy in favor of the defense of the forest, which also involves the creation of structures that make the territory more resilient and prepared to respond to situations such as forest fires», states the Chamber.
