Manuel Netos dos Santos presents “The Book of Returns” in Alcantarilha

The author has already published 40 works, translated into several languages

Alcantarilha poet Manuel Netos dos Santos returns tomorrow, December 8th, to his homeland to present his most recent poetic production “O Livro dos Regressos”, at Casa do Povo de Alcantarilha, at 16 pm.

The choice of the location for the book's presentation was helped by Roberto Cabrita, president of the Union of Parishes of Alcantarilha and Pêra, who intends to associate the poet's homeland with the celebrations of his 35 years of literary activity. The work was prefaced by writer Luís Barriga, published by Arandis Editora, supported by Associação ALDEPA and União de Freguesias.

With the book, the author pays tribute to his mother and returns to his origins and childhood.

With a career of 40 published works, «among the rhymes and blank verses, considered poetic prose, admittedly Arabic-Andalusí, the author addresses the readings, of the cities of the world that poetry made him known as a representative of a province, in short, of a country».

“The Book of Returns” is a lyrical and philosophical record about the “great truths of dreams, life and death” and waits for “poetry to take you around the world again”.

Manuel Neto dos Santos published his first book of poetry in 1988.

This presentation marks the end of 35 years of literary activity, a year that took him to Spain, the Netherlands, Morocco and various regions of the national territory.

With 40 published works, translated into Spanish, English, French, German, Romanian and Arabic, he is published in Portugal, Spain, Latin America, the United Kingdom, Germany and Morocco.

On Silves Municipality Day, on the 3rd of September, he was awarded the “Literature Prize” of that municipality.
