Manuel Célio Conceição appointed “Officier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres” by the Government of France

Awarded to personalities who stand out for their activity in the fields of culture and communication

The Government of the French Republic, by order of the Minister of Culture Rima Abdul Malak, appointed Manuel Célio Conceição, professor at the University of Algarve, “Officier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres”.

This distinction is attributed, according to the same order, to personalities who stand out for their activity in the fields of culture and communication and for their contribution to the promotion of Arts and Letters in France and the world.

Manuel Célio Conceição's activity, with great international projection in research, training and knowledge transfer, focuses on the area of ​​language sciences, in particular in the areas of linguistic and cultural diversity, multilingualism and language policies and science communication, an area in which he coordinates a specific task in the European University of the Seas Alliance (EA-EU), a consortium formed by nine universities.

Manuel Célio Conceição had already been distinguished with the lower degree of this Honorific Order (Chevalier) in 2013.

The badge affixing ceremony will take place at the beginning of 2024.
