Ferreiras Parish Council offered a book to children

In its 28 pages, there are several illustrations that can be colored, several question and answer games, alphabet soups and even a maze

The Ferreiras Parish Council offered a book to children which shows, «in a playful and fun way, a little about the history and heritage of the parish».

In its 28 pages, there are several illustrations that can be colored, several question and answer games, alphabet soups and even a maze.

This edition highlights the various wells in the parish, showing how in the past the resident populations had access to drinking water. The local heritage is also in evidence with the São José church or the century-old Ferreiras station, being some of the references.

Through this publication, children will learn the origins of the name “Ferreiras”, as well as the location of the main attractions.

The book was presented last Tuesday, in the auditorium of Escola EB1,2,3 de Ferreiras. The students were able to discover the book and take home a publication, with a dedication from the president of the Parish Council Jorge Carmo.

For the mayor, «this is a simple and didactic way of showing children some of our history and heritage, so that they know a little more about what surrounds us».

Jorge Carmo states that «this offer also has the function of marking the Christmas season, but also of challenging younger people to carry out these activities during the holiday period, leaving home and discovering the parish».

Ivone Fernandes, deputy director of the Ferreiras School Group, highlighted the importance and opportunity of this publication, since «the students worked on content related to local heritage throughout the year as a complementary offer and this publication meets what they were to work".

The teacher and director also highlighted «the possibility of them doing some family activities and being able to leave the house, which is also important during the holidays».

The book will now be distributed to all students in Ferreiras schools. Parents who do not receive the publication can request it from the Board's services.
