European funds: 257 million support smart specialization strategy projects in the Algarve

Until December 31, 2022, the 12 programs analyzed represent a total of approved European funds of 257 million euros to support projects aligned with the Algarve's smart specialization strategy, according to the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR). 

A total of 3864 projects were approved, mobilizing different sources of financing to implement the project.
implementation of RIS3 Algarve and, of these projects, around 58% (2234 projects) are, in their objectives, duly aligned with the domains of RIS3 Algarve.

Compared to 2021, CCDR Algarve says that there was an increase of 2,8% in the total number of projects aligned with RIS3 Algarve.

Still in the projects of the Algarve Regional Program, in terms of distribution by RIS3 domain, Tourism continues to have the largest relative weight (57%), with Agri-food being the second sector with 13%. As for the number of
projects, Tourism represents 40% of the total, followed by the ICT and ICC sector, which now represents 17% of the total.

CCDR Algarve monitors the execution of the programs Interreg V-A Spain – Portugal (POCTEP), Interreg EA, EUROPE, URBACT, Interreg MED, SUDOE, Horizonte 2020, ENI CBC Med, Horizonte Europa, Rural Development Program 2020, MAR 2020 and Regional Program of the Algarve, with the support granted by the last three predominating.
