Film about Soares and adaptation of a book by Lídia Jorge arrive in cinemas in February

On February 22nd, the biopic “Soares é Fixe”, by Sérgio Graciano, premieres

The film about Mário Soares “Soares é Fixe”, by Sérgio Graciano, and the adaptation of the book “O Vento Assobiando nas Gruas”, by Lídia Jorge, by Jeanne Waltz, are part of February's cinematographic premieres, NOS announced today.

Distributor NOS Audiovisuais' calendar of national premieres for 2024 begins with “A Semente do Mal”, by Gabriel Abrantes, on January 18th, followed, on February 15th, by “Amo-te Imenso”, by Brazilian Hermano Moreira, shot in Lisbon with Guilherme Gorski, Filipa Pinto and Júlia Palha in the cast.

That same month, on the 22nd, the biopic “Soares é Fixe”, by Sérgio Graciano, was released, marking the centenary of the birth of the former Prime Minister and President of the Republic and revolving around the second round of the presidential elections. 1986, in which Mário Soares would win with the support of the left, against Diogo Freitas do Amaral.

On February 29th, “O Vento Assobiando nas Gruas” opens in cinemas, based on the novel by Lídia Jorge published in 2002, and which won her several literary prizes, including the Grand Prize for Romance and Novel of the Portuguese Writers Association.

A new film in the “Balas e Bolinhos” series is scheduled to premiere on August 15, with more premieres to be announced in the future, according to a statement from NOS Audiovisuais. The third film in the saga, by Luís Ismael, dates back to 2012 and is the seventh most watched Portuguese film since 2004, according to data from the Instituto do Cinema e Audiovisual.

The list of premieres in Portugal for 2024 also includes foreign films such as “Pobre Criaturas”, by Yorgos Lanthimos, on January 25th, which features the participation of fado singer Carminho.

In February, NOS Audiovisuais will premiere this year's Palme d'Or winner, “Anatomy of a Fall”, by French director Justine Triet.

For next year, premieres are also planned such as the second “Gladiator”, by Ridley Scott, on November 21st, the new chapter of “Alien”, by Fede Alvaréz, on August 15th, or the sequel to “Inside Out” , by Kelsey Mann, according to the calendar released by NOS.
