Active Aging Skills Center trained 15 new elderly caregivers

Albufeira has 15 new caregivers for elderly people, who have just been trained in the first edition of a course taught by the Active Aging Skills Center (CCEA).

The closing ceremony of the first course for caregivers for elderly people took place today, December 21st, at the Olhos de Água social facility, in Albufeira, and was attended by Miguel Fontes, Secretary of State for Labor.

In total, 20 people started this course, 17 of which were unemployed and three were employees of SCM Albufeira.

Of the five who ended up giving up, three did so due to illness and the other two did not provide a reason.

Of the graduates who completed the course, 12 are of Brazilian nationality, one is of Portuguese nationality, another is of Colombian nationality and the other is of Ukrainian nationality.

Once the course, which lasts 50 hours, has been completed, Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Albufeira proposes to hire, to work in the institution's new home, scheduled to open in January, «all people who meet the necessary requirements» and who demonstrate interest in this, according to the State Department of Labor.
