The Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR) congratulated the Algarve musician Dino d’ Santiago for being awarded, this Wednesday, December 20th, the Medal of Cultural Merit, awarded by the Government.

In addition to his musical career, the CCDR highlights, in a note sent to the press, the fact that Dino d'Santiago gives "a voice to several movements that fight against racial discrimination", participating "actively in social integration projects and promoting equality in schools and in jails”.

In fact, the awarding of this distinction took place at the Linhó Prison Establishment, in Sintra, where he regularly participates in the De Dentro para Fora initiative, coordinated by Filipe Gameiro Neves, which seeks to make music a space of freedom within the prison.

Dino d’Santiago adds this distinction to a varied collection of awards and awards won throughout his artistic career. Even before the 2022 Golden Globes (Performer Category), he was already the artist with the most awards at the Play – Portuguese Music Awards, annual awards whose first edition took place in 2019 (Best album – Mundu Nóbo, best solo artist and critics award – 2019, Best album – Kriola, best male artist and critics award – 2021, Best male artist and critics award – 2022).

Collectively, the Nu Soul Family project was awarded the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Portuguese Artist in 2010, having also been nominated on other occasions for their participation in Expensive Soul. In 2020, Dino d’ Santiago was nominated again for the same award, this time with his solo project.
