The 2nd edition of the Albufeira Skate Challenge is coming

On December 9th activities start at 10am

The Albufeira Skate Challenge is back, for its second edition, on December 9th, this year including a photography contest.

Like last year, the competitions, which take place at the Albufeira Skatepark, start at 10am and run until around 00pm.

On a day with several activities, the municipality of Albufeira highlights the “Best Trick de 4 Cash” competition, with a prize of one thousand euros for the participant who performs the best tricks.

Gabriel Ribeiro, twin brother of current World runner-up Gustavo Ribeiro, will be one of the skateboarders to be present at the event, along with the brothers Pacal, Madu Teixeira and Bruno Senra.

Parallel to the skateboarding competitions, one of the great new features of this edition is the “Photo Challenge”, a challenge that will reward the best photograph of the event, with participants having the opportunity to receive three Fnac gift vouchers worth 100 euros for 1st place, 75 euros for 2nd, and 50 euros for 3rd place.

The big winner will also be awarded a weekend for two people in local accommodation in Albufeira, offered by PREMIUM KEY.

In a note, Albufeira City Council clarifies that participants in this competition do not need to be professional photographers, and can even take photos with their cell phone, if they wish.

«It is not necessary to photograph the best maneuver, but it is necessary that the image has quality and that the skateboard is present in the photo. Afterwards, the photos must be shared on social media, following the Skate Challenge page and the instructions indicated on it», explains the municipality.

Then, the winner will be chosen the week following the event, after an online pre-selection and jury evaluation.

The awards ceremony will take place at the facilities of FNAC da Guia, one of the main sponsors of the Photo Challenge.

There will be no shortage of music, with performances by local artists such as Time to Waste, Dj Gijoe, Panda Collective and Dj Virgos.

Albufeira City Council states that this initiative «aims to promote not only citizenship and coexistence, but also sport, especially at a time when we intend to affirm our candidacy for European City of Sport 2026».

José Carlos Rolo also recalls that, «in addition to the Skatepark, since November 15th, Albufeira has had a new skate ramp, already considered one of the best in the country, so that all lovers of the sport can enjoy this sport».

Cristiano Cabrita, vice-president of the City Council and responsible for Sports and Youth, also highlights the importance of the event, «since it allows the development of sports, contributing to the well-being and health of new generations» .

The mayor reinforces that «young people are one of the Municipality's biggest concerns and commitments, hence our investment in these initiatives».

The Albufeira Skate Challenge is organized by the City Council and Parish Council of Albufeira and Olhos de
Água, with the support of several sponsors, such as Fnac and Redbull.
