São Brás de Alportel is painted red to mark the beginning of Christmas celebrations

Red Night will mark the opening of the São Brasense Christmas calendar, this Saturday, December 2nd. 

This evening, the Municipality invites you to discover various promotions in local businesses.

In Largo de São Sebastião, the heart of the town, we await the arrival of Santa Claus at 15:00 pm, and at 17:00 pm the atrium of the São Brás Cineteatro Jaime Pinto opens the Artisanal Nativity Scene Exhibition, which features versions that local artisans prepared as part of the of a challenge launched for the third consecutive year by the Municipality.

On the Red Night Stage, from 17:30 pm, groups such as São Brás Bailando, Urban Xpression and Clube do Museu will take place.

One of the most anticipated moments will be the first performance of the new São Brás de Alportel Children's Choir Group.

The trio Tiago Botinas, Isaac Costa and Matilde Belchior will also make their debut, yet another project to showcase young local talents. The night ends with the sound of “Sniffy Marfads”.

According to the municipality of São Brás de Alportel, this night was «designed to boost the local economy this season» as purchases made at participating establishments allow customers to qualify for a global prize of 500 euros for purchases at the Municipal Market .

The draw “runs around” on December 5th, at the Municipal Market.

In addition to this prize, from December 1st to January 6th, anyone who purchases in local shops and at the Municipal Market is eligible for a weekly draw of 500 euros in shopping vouchers that they can use in local shops or at the Municipal Market.

 

 

For this season, the Municipality has also prepared several activities to promote the Municipal Market, which will feature the presence of confectioners in the “Flavors of Christmas” exhibition, as well as artisans who will present their proposals for original gifts.

The program will also feature solidarity actions, such as Mercadinho, which takes place in Largo de São Sebastião, on the 3rd, between 10 am and 00 pm.

This will be an event in which several local and regional associations participate and present their work as a suggestion for Christmas gifts.

Espaço Comunidade, former headquarters of the Parish Council, will be the meeting point for several artisans on Saturday mornings in December, who will give shape to a new initiative of the Parish Council of São Brás de Alportel: the Feira de Christmas.

On the second weekend of December, all roads will lead to Parises village, which will transform into Aldeia Natal Verde.

This is an initiative that is involving the community and where everyone can collaborate, from the 8th to the 10th of December.

Also on the 9th, the streets of the town of São Brás de Alportel will be lively with the help of the São Brás de Alportel Philharmonic Band, which will hold its traditional Christmas Parade.

 

 

As this is a cold season, the Parish Council of São Brás de Alportel invites you to warm your feet with the Christmas Tea Dance, which will take place in the Gymnasium of the Municipal Pavilion, on December 10th, starting at 15pm.

Students from the Associação Cultural Sambrasense School of Music present their Christmas audition at the Center for Arts and Crafts, on December 16th, starting at 16pm. This event will feature accordion and violin auditions for students from the association and the group aCordaFole – Orquestra de Acordeão e Violino, which also hosts the Escola de
Music from the Casa do Povo da Conceição de Faro and the Music School of the Artists Society of Minerva.

The sounds of Christmas sing again on December 17th with the Concert by the Choir of Friends of the Museum, which performs in the Capela de São Romão, starting at 18pm.

On Christmas Day, the Motoclube de São Brás de Alportel “Os Unidos da Estrada” once again hosts its Christmas party in the heart of the Historic Center, next to the club headquarters.

The Rota dos Nativity Scenes also returns to various spaces in the municipality. This year, the route showcases approximately 30 nativity scenes installed at Santa Casa da Misericórdia, at the Museu do Traje, at Quinta do Peral, at Miradouro da Cabeça do Velho, at the Alportel Museum Center, at the Municipal Library, at the Social Center de Parises, in the playground of the Corotelo Kindergarten, in the Volunteer Fire Station, in the atrium of the São Brás Cineteatro Jaime Pinto and in the Main Church.

The program ends on January 6th, with the Friends of SãoBrazArte presenting the Live Nativity Scene at the Municipal Library, at 16:30 pm.
