PSP searches São Bento, Costa's chief of staff detained

At stake are the lithium business

The PSP is carrying out, on the morning of this Tuesday, November 7th, searches in the office of the Prime Minister and the Ministries of Environment and Infrastructure, advances the Público newspaper.

At issue, according to this newspaper, are the lithium business.

Público says that three people have already been arrested: Vítor Escária, Costa's chief of staff, Diogo Lacerda Machado, businessman and friend of the prime minister, and Nuno Mascarenhas, president of the Chamber of Sines.

However, the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Action has already confirmed to Lusa that PSP searches are carried out at its facilities.

An official source from Duarte Cordeiro's ministry said, however, that he did not yet know the reason for the searches.

According to Público, ministers Duarte Cordeiro and João Galamba and former minister João Pedro Matos Fernandes will be named defendants.
