Organ pipes continue to sound in the Algarve

The concerts are free entry.

Faro, Boliqueime, Loulé and Tavira will host the continuation of the Algarve Organ Festival, which features concerts, guided tours, an educational concert, workshops and a photography competition, from the 16th to the 19th of November.

On the 16th, the Igreja da Sé, in Faro, hosts an educational concert aimed at school-age children, at 10 am. The history of more than 00 years of the Great Organ of the Cathedral of Faro will be told through the adventures of several characters, with André Ferreira on the organ.

In the afternoon, in Tavira, there will be a guided tour inside the pipe organs, by master organ maker Dinarte Machado, at 18pm, at the Church of S.José (former hospital). The visit passes by the Church of Santiago and ends at the Church of Misericórdia. The activity is subject to prior registration and costs 00 euros.

On Friday (17), organist André Ferreira and Ensemble 258 present chamber music, with soprano voices, baroque harp, bass and baroque oboe, on the theme “O Mística Rosa”, at the Parish Church of Boliqueime.

At the same time, at the Igreja da Misericórdia de Tavira, organist Sérgio Silva joins Nuno Mendes (baroque violin) and Pedro Massarrão (baroque cello) for an Iberian program, but essentially Italian and German, from the XNUMXth to the XNUMXth centuries.

On November 18th, at 10am, the Boliqueime Parish Church hosts an organ workshop by André Ferreira and a singing workshop by Teresa Duarte, at the Loulé Music Conservatory. The activity is subject to prior registration.

That night, at the Carmo Church, in Faro, organist André Ferreira and Ensemble 258 come together again to present a new program of instrumental chamber music, this time on the theme “Missa a S. João Evangelista”.

On Sunday, the 19th, the usual concert of students and guests from the Sé de Organ School will take place at 15pm in the Igreja da Sé. Faro.

Later that afternoon, a concert will take place at 18pm at the Igreja Matriz de Loulé, with Sérgio Silva, Nuno Mendes (baroque violin) and Pedro Massarrão (baroque cello). A positive organ will be used, that is, portable, provided by the Cathedral of Santarém.

Participation in the photography competition, held in partnership with the ALFA Association and the University of Algarve (ESEC) and with the support of FNAC and the Hotel Faro, runs until November 19th.

The concerts are free entry.
