A 29-year-old man, who tried to stab his ex-wife to death in the room where she slept with her daughter, was arrested this Wednesday, November 1st, in the municipality of Olhão.
The woman had to be taken to the hospital Faro where she is still hospitalized.
The attack took place in the presence of a child who was sleeping with his mother.
According to the Judiciary Police (PJ), the attacks were only interrupted because the owner of the house, a friend of the couple, alerted by the situation, broke down "the bedroom door" and "intervened to help the victim, removing and disarming the attacker", avoiding the homicide.
The attacker fled, but ended up handing himself over to the PSP, hours after committing the crime.
The detainee was already referred for committing the crime of domestic violence.
Coercion measures are not yet known.
