The amount allocated to applications from the Tourism and Cinema Support Fund (FATC), in the process that was opened on April 5, is now increased by 6 million euros, the Ministry of Culture announced today.

The reinforcement was made by joint order of the Minister of Culture, the Secretary of State for Finance and the Secretary of State for Tourism, Commerce and Services.

«Initially, it was planned that this amount would be allocated to a second phase of applications, which will no longer be opened this year», adds the Ministry's note.

This change aims to “respond to the high volume of projects presented, which far exceeded the available budget”.

The number of applications presented is, according to the ministry supervised by Pedro Adão e Silva, «representative of the intense dynamics of cinematographic and audiovisual production currently taking place in our country».

The new list of projects to be supported, based on the total budget allocation available for the year 2023 (14 million euros), will be drawn up by the Instituto do Cinema e do Audiovisual, and Turismo de Portugal and published on the ICA website.

In 2024, the FATC will be maintained and a tax incentive regime will be created for large-scale cinematographic and audiovisual projects, which will function as a complementary mechanism to the cash rebate.
