Faro: PDM review presented in public session

The Proposal for Revision of the Municipal Master Plan (PDM) of Faro will be presented in a public session scheduled for November 22nd, at 21 pm, in the main hall of Paços do Concelho.

In a note, the Municipality of Faro explains that the PDM is intended to «regulate the occupation, use and transformation of land and establishes the territorial development strategy, being the reference instrument for the elaboration of the remaining municipal plans and the only one that is directly binding on individuals».

The PDM of Faro in force is a so-called “1st generation plan” and was originally approved in 1995.

However, according to the municipality, after a “long, demanding and complex review procedure restarted in
2023, which took advantage of all the acts and formalities carried out in the previous 2016 procedure, and in consultation with more than forty administration entities with interests in the territory, a PDM proposal was reached, which will be under public discussion until December 5 »

Among the main changes is the classification of soils and the delimitation of urban perimeters, in accordance with various legal obligations.

This proposal to review the PDM is also accompanied by the Conditioning Plans that establish the delimitation of the National Ecological Reserve (REN) and the National Agricultural Reserve (RAN) of the municipality of Faro.

The session is public and aims to consult the population, as well as provide the opportunity for active and broad participation, on what will be the new PDM of Faro and will be attended by the technical team from the company “Lugar do Plano, Gestão do Território e Cultura”, responsible for the work carried out.
