The center of Lagoa will once again be invaded by “Living Statues at Christmas”on the 15th and 16th of December, in another edition of the event with the same name.

On the 15th, a Friday, the event takes place between 14:30 pm and 17:30 pm. On Saturday, December 16th, the living statues can be seen between 10am and 00pm. Entry is free.

This year, the initiative will feature 16 masters of the art of stillness, divided into 15 artistic paintings, who will embody characters based on different themes (living nativity scene, historical personalities, religion, professions, among others) on a route that encompasses Rua 25 de Abril and Largo 5 de Outubro.

This year, the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Municipality of Lagoa will be highlighted, an event that will be marked with a living statue of King D. José I, who on January 16, 1773, through a Royal Charter, declared Lagoa as a town.

As usual, there will be prizes for the best living statues, one awarded by a jury and the other by the public, for which everyone can vote.

This event «intends to publicize and dignify artistic creation in this unique performing art with the best artists nationwide and, at the same time, liven up the center of Lagoa and boost local commerce in the middle of the Christmas season», according to Lagoa City Council.
