Members of the security forces protest on the 22nd to demand changes to the OE

They demand “the immediate review of the remunerations” of these professionals

The structure that brings together several unions and associations of security forces and services announced today that it will hold a protest on November 22nd at the Prime Minister's official residence to demand changes to the State Budget.

In a statement, the Permanent Coordinating Committee (CCP) of Unions and Associations of Security Forces and Services Professionals, which includes unions and associations of the GNR, PSP, Maritime Police, Prison Guard and ASAE, demands “the immediate review of the remunerations” of these professionals and argues that, as the State Budget for 2024 (OE2024) is still under discussion and has not been approved, “there is still room for changes”.

The national secretary of the CPP, César Nogueira, told Lusa that the decision to protest at São Bento was taken at a meeting of this structure last Tuesday, hours before the prime minister presented his resignation.

César Nogueira, who is also president of the Association of Guard Professionals (APG/GNR), said that the CCP structures consider that it is justified to maintain the protest decision, since OE2024 will be approved and “there is still time to do changes” regarding the remuneration table.

According to César Nogueira, the protest continues near the Prime Minister's residence because the objective is to hold the Government responsible for its work, which “did not solve the essential” problem of security forces and services.

“The OE2024 does not serve security forces and services professionals, it does not dignify their functions or value their careers. The average salary increase of 3% set in OE2024 is lower than the expected inflation of 5,2% for the current year and, once again, it is intended to impose the loss of purchasing power and consequent degradation of the subsistence conditions of those who comply central functions of the Democratic Rule of Law”, says the CCP.

The structures that bring together the CPP also demand the immediate review of the salaries of professionals in the security forces and services.

The CCP includes the Guard Professionals Association, the Police Professionals Union Association, the Maritime Police Socio-Professional Association, the Foreigners and Borders Service Investigation and Inspection Career Union, the National Union of the Prison Guard Corps and the Employees' Union Association. from ASAE.
