The streets of downtown Faro will become an open-air gallery to host the “Christmas Arts” exhibition, starting tomorrow and until December 29th, to showcase works by the ladies of the “Clube da Agulha”, a project promoted by the Municipality of Faro through the Municipal Library.

This exhibition, promoted by the Municipality of Faro in partnership with the Association for the Development of Commerce in the Historic Zone of Faro, spread across the shop windows in Baixa de Faro who joined the challenge.

The “Clube da Agulha” has been meeting since May 2018. Currently, the group’s meetings take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, at the Municipal Library, as part of the “Histórias Contadas, Sorrisos Sharilhados” project.

«This initiative has developed continuous and consistent work in the area of leisure time occupation and well-being of the elderly, promoting their mental health and self-esteem», according to the Chamber of Faro.

«With the aim of reconciling the sharing of knowledge, readings and memories with the therapeutic and social side of textile arts such as knitting, crochet and other manual activities, these activities allow residents to get closer to the services of the Municipal Library of Faro, encouraging regular participation in social and cultural events promoted by the municipality», adds the municipality.
