Aljezur Chamber calls for urgent intervention in the municipality’s riverbanks

In a letter sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment

The Aljezur Chamber defended urgent intervention, by the Government, in the municipality's riverbanks, namely those of Amoreira, Odeceixe and Bordeira, in a letter sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment.

The call for attention is related to «the silting/clogging of these streams», which «can have consequences of various orders, so it is urgent to study and put into practice an intervention plan for the future», according to the municipality.

The state of the municipality's riverbanks was assessed «after several visits to the land and meetings with the APA (Portuguese Environment Agency)» and after the City Council itself carried out an intervention on the riverbank near the mouth of Amoreira beach, last summer.

«Aljezur City Council expresses its concern about this situation and its willingness to collaborate on future solutions», concludes the municipality.
