MotoGP hopefuls return to the Autódromo do Algarve to compete in FIM JuniorGP

Championship has global dimension in Moto3 and European dimension in Moto2

The FIM JuniorGP, the «ultimate access championship to MotoGP», will once again take place at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, in Portimão, on the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd of June 2024.

This championship will take place for the eighth time in its history at the Algarve racetrack, where it debuted in 2014. Since then, names like Fabio Quartararo, Joan Mir or Pedro Acosta, then on their way to MotoGP, have won this race.

Since 2022, called FIM JuniorGP «has a world seal for Moto3 and is considered a European championship for Moto2, being the only international championship that uses Moto2 in addition to the world championship», reveals the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.

«On its grids there are also bikes prepared to meet the requirements of the Superstock 600 regulations and also the European Talent Cup, a competition aimed at younger riders and which serves as a gateway to promotion to JuniorGP», he adds.

No paddock of this race «we found almost all the teams that compete in the MotoGP world championship, in particular the structures that make up the starting grids in Moto3 and Moto2 which have their junior teams in the FIM JuniorGP to prepare the riders for the world championship».

In 2024 the FIM JuniorGP will have seven races on its calendar visiting three different countries: Portugal, Spain and Italy.
