New digital company accelerator wants to give «more Algarve to the Algarve»

Accelerator has a total budget of 3,5 million euros and is supported by PRR

«Give more Algarve to the Algarve». This is the main objective of the region's new digital commerce accelerator, launched on Wednesday, October 4, and which will help 2000 companies in the technological transition.

The platform, which is funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), was presented at the end of the afternoon, in a session at the Tivoli Marina Hotel, in Vilamoura.

The Algarve Digital Commerce Accelerator, with an allocation of 3,5 million euros, will be implemented by the Association of Entrepreneurs of Quarteira and Vilamoura (AEQV), leader of a consortium that also brings together the Commercial and Industrial Association of Ponte de Sor .

Francisca Sousa, project manager, explained that this initiative will help 2000 micro, small and medium-sized companies, essentially in the areas of commerce, restaurants and tourism (CAES 45, 46, 47, 56, 79, 95 and 96).

«We will identify companies, assess their level of digital proficiency and identify which factors can be leveraged to carry out digitalization», said this person in charge.

Each company may receive up to 2 thousand euros to implement these solutions. «We will guarantee the monitoring of companies, during the project and afterwards», added Francisca Sousa.

Furthermore, one of the particularities of this accelerator is that it will also allow you to enter a marketplacand, with multiple and intelligent suppliers, giving companies a greater digital presence.

«What we will do is incorporate technology, try to dematerialize the processes, train entrepreneurs and accompany them so that they can then be able to reach new markets and new customers», he highlighted.

João Guerreiro, president of the Quarteira and Vilamoura Businessmen's Association, also stressed to journalists the fact that this is an "ambitious project" that will last, at least, until December 2025.

«We are going to do a lot of follow-up work. It is essential that we look at the market in a dynamic way and that this is a starting point for the future », he considered.

Nuno Fazenda, Secretary of State for Tourism, Commerce and Services, was also present at the launch of this Algarve Digital Accelerator.

Speaking to journalists, the government official considered that this accelerator will help commerce in the Algarve.

«It allows for a training project, in which businesspeople improve their digital presence and, at the same time, can then be integrated into platforms that allow them to be promoted around the world», he said.

«Small business, such as crafts, is very important, but we also have to give it more notoriety and projection and this project makes that contribution», concluded Nuno Fazenda.
