Loulé marks Municipal Equality Day with walk and theater play

There are several activities until the end of the month

Walks, plays and short film presentations are some of the activities that will mark Municipal Day for Gender Equality in Loulé.

This Sunday, October 22nd, from 9 am, at Cerca do Convento, in Loulé, the activity “Walking and Cycling for Equality” will take place. The community is invited to participate in physical exercise this morning, on foot or by bicycle, bringing with them a message of equality.

It is also within this context that the theatrical action “Igualdade em Movimento” takes place, aimed at workers at Loulé City Council. The activity takes place on the 23rd, at various municipal facilities.

The following day, the 24th, symbolic pins on the theme of equality will be distributed in the three Munícipe stores (Quarteira, Almancil and Loulé), raising citizens' awareness of this topic.

On the 26th and 27th of October, the program reaches the school community. At the Loulé and Laura Ayres Secondary Schools (Quarteira), as well as at the Alte Professional School, the short film “Gambozinos”, by director João Nicolau, will be shown on the theme.

This is followed by a debate and presentation of the #EndGenderStereotypes Campaign, to students from these three educational establishments.

Municipal Equality Day is part of the actions foreseen in the Municipal Plan for Gender Equality and Non-Discrimination (PMIND), prepared by the Municipality of Loulé.

«This is a document that aims to respond to the objectives of “ENIND – Portugal + Igual 2018-2030” and the respective National Action Plans, for a period of 4 years (2023-2026)» and aims to «promote the good people's well-being and quality of life, in their collective participation in society and the elimination of gender stereotypes in various spheres».
