A 75-year-old man was arrested today in Olhão due to strong evidence of committing several sexual crimes against two minors in his family circle.
According to the Judiciary Police, the sexual assaults took place in different periods, starting in 2022, when the children, aged 8 and 15, foreigners, came to live with their mother in Portugal, settling in the city from Olhão.
Following the investigation, reports of various sexual assaults were collected.
According to the judiciary, the facts spread over the last year, only ending after the formal complaint was made by the mother of the victims' schoolmates.
«The sexual assaults always took place in an environment completely controlled by the detained person, an individual who was a regular visitor to the minor's family, and always on occasions when they were alone», says the PJ.
The investigations culminated in the arrest of the suspect, who is now awaiting presentation to the competent Judicial Authorities for judicial interrogation and application of coercive measures.
The inquiry is directed by the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action of Olhão.
