Festival Política returns to Loulé with “A Garota Não” and talks to deputies

The Politics Festival is a concept of the Isonomia Association

A manifesto concert of “A Garota Não”, a “Face-to-Face” with deputies, at the Calcinha café, the theater play “Sobre Rosas e Margaridas”, films, debates and exhibitions. The Politics Festival returns to Loulé, on the 19th and 21st of October.

After Lisbon, Braga and Coimbra, Loulé is the last stop this year for this festival with a free entry program that takes place across various spaces in the Algarve city, with the Cineteatro Louletano as its epicenter.

In this second edition in Loulé, now with the “Post-Democracy” flag raised, Política reinforces the reflection on the limits of our democratic system, a year before the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April, through music, cinema, theater and even humor, by summoning some of the already known artists and actors, but also the local community.

“A Garota Não” presents, on the 20th, at 21pm, at the Cineteatro, its manifesto concert entitled “Portuguese Selection: 00 million summoned” and a handful of songs that convey the issues that concern her.

Also on the stage of the Cineteatro Louletano, on the 19th, at 21pm, there will be the play “Sobre Rosas e Margaridas”, directed by Tânia Farias and which is the result of a collective creation by the performing arts association Folha de Medronho and the group theater “Tribo de Atuadores Ói Nóis Aqui Traveiz” (Porto Alegre/Brazil).

And because humor is an alternative way of making the public think about very serious things, the “Almost Almost Political Edition” of the Monsters of the Year awards, by Fernando Alvim, lands in Loulé to show the most surprising episodes of the Portuguese political panorama ( 21st, at 21pm).

In the same cinema, eight films are also shown, including shorts and feature films.

One of them, on the 19th, at 18pm, will be the winner of the Golden Bear at the Berlin Festival in 00: “Alcarràs”, by Catalan director Carla Simón.

In addition to this, on the 21st, at 17pm, the screening of the collective documentary “Novíssimas Cartas Portuguesas”, which questions the current state of the feminist struggle, on the 00th anniversary of the book “Novas Cartas Portuguesas” .

There will also be space, on the 21st, at 18:30 pm, for the documentary “Sou Quarteira”, by Miguel Jacinto and Selma Lopes, which will reveal the multicultural richness and diversity of this city (curated by the Sou Quarteira movement).

Back in Loulé is the “Face-to-face with the Deputies”, on the 20th, at 19pm. At Café Calcinha, participants have the opportunity to talk, for five minutes, with representatives of the parties sitting in the Assembly of the Republic about a topic, doubt or issue (prior registration is required via email at participa.politica@gmail .with).

At Solar da Música Nova, on the 20th, at 17:30 pm, the debate “Democracy under threat?” will take place, with commentators and political analysts Helena Ferro Gouveia and Adriana Lopes Cardoso and coordinated by CNN Portugal commentator Rui Calafate.

O ShowCase by singer Carla Sousa (in the foyer of Cineteatro Louletano), the story-concert with workshop “Made in Osvaldo”, developed by Real Pelágio and aimed at children between 6 and 10 years old (in the Auditorium of Solar da Música Nova), and the guided tour through the streets of Loulé in search of traces and marks of the presence of the Jewish community (the meeting point is on Saturday, the 21st, at 10 am, at the Church of São Clemente and registrations at [email protected]) – followed by a conversation and a musical moment by Sephardic harpist Helena Madeira, at Palácio Gama Lobo – make up other highlights of the program.

During the three days of the Politics Festival, the photography exhibitions “Institucionalizado”, by Isabela Marques and Airton Cesar Monteiro (curated by Kriativu, at Solar da Música Nova) and “O mundo num click”, by Alexandre Elias, are presented, as well as the installation “Mulheres PPT – Mulheres na Política PorTuguesa”, by Salomé Marques – the last two (in the foyer of Cineteatro Louletano) are part of the winning proposals of the scholarship competition for young people, awarded in partnership with the Instituto Português do Desporto e Juventude (IPDJ ).

The Politics Festival guarantees, once again, free entry and interpretation in Portuguese Sign Language in all activities and events. The films are subtitled in Portuguese, including those in Portuguese. The programming in braille It is available for consultation on festival days and the exhibitions have audio description.

The Politics Festival is a concept of Associação Isonomia and has the artistic direction of Bárbara Rosa and Rui Oliveira Marques. With co-production by Produtores Associados and the Municipality of Loulé, it has the institutional support of the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth. It also has a programming partnership with the European Parliament – ​​Office in Portugal, Kriativu, Real Pelágio and Sou Quarteira. RTP and Antenna 1 are average partners.
