Faro Active continues until the end of October

The "Faro Ativo” continues until the end of October, with chess and figure skating tournaments, the “International Faro" it's the Faro Extreme Adventure.

This initiative, with which the Municipality of Faro marks the beginning of the municipality's sporting year, tIt starts on the 7th of September and takes place in collaboration with the municipality's associative and business community, namely Decathlon Faro.

This year, the Faro Ativo, also with the collaboration of IPDJ, was part of the Closing Party of the IX edition of the European Sports Week (SED), an initiative developed by the European Commission, which took place on September 30th, at Parque de Lazer das Figuras.

Also the Nautical Center of Praia de Faro returned to receive various activities within the scope of the Faro Active, with emphasis on the Clean the Ria Formosa initiative in Stand Up Paddle, on the 9th of September and the mini expedition in Stand up Paddle, on the 23rd of September.

In fact, between the 30th of September and the 1st of October, the highlight of the event took place, with the holding of an extensive sports exhibition at the Parque de Lazer das Figuras and at the Forum Algarve shopping center (partner of the Faro Ativo), among other sports spaces and facilities in the municipality, where the population can try different modalities, including various adapted sports.

This exhibition included activities such as Basketball, Football, Classical/Contemporary and Urban Dance, Figure and Inline Skating, Archery, Cycling, Gymnastics, Judo, Taekwondo, Capoeira Jujutsu, Traditional Japanese Martial Arts, Karate, Jiu-Jitsu, Rugby , Athletics, Volleyball, Golf, Climbing, Pétanque, Skateboarding, Baseball, among many others, that the population can try, completely free of charge. The senior age group also participated in various activities such as Zumba, Yoga, Dance, Tai Chi and Pilates.

The Farense Padel Team also marked its first presence in the Faro Active, with exhibition games and the “Game of the Stars”, in which the four best federated athletes from the south of the country, residing in the municipality of Faro, were present.

In addition, a vast area was set up with entertainment equipment and children's entertainment for the little ones.

Several entities were also present at this exhibition, such as ARS Algarve, Portuguese Red Cross, Fagar “Água de Faro”, Higher School of Education and Communication – University of Algarve, Delta Cafés, Rede Social, Escola Profissional D. Francisco Gomes de Avelar and Escola Secundária Pinheiro e Rosa.

The closing of the exhibition “Sports in Faro” took place on October 1st, with Zumba Color, an initiative that had dozens of participants.
