Costa opens PS plenary sessions across the country in Portimão to present OE2024

Minister Ana Abrunhosa will be in Tavira, João Gomes Cravinho, in Évora, Mariana Vieira da Silva, in Crato (Portalegre) and Pedro Adão e Silva in Castro Verde (Beja)

The PS secretary general opens this Saturday, in Portimão, a series of 19 plenary sessions promoted by his party across the country and aimed at presenting the State Budget proposal for 2024.

This first session of a series of initiatives called “Accountability”, which will last until the 27th – three days before the beginning of the discussion in parliament on the Budget in general – will take place in Alvor and will be part of an event organized by JS, the “Europe Forum”.

According to a note from JS, the “Europe Forum” is expected to bring together around 200 young people and aims to be “a moment of reflection in the run-up to the European elections” in June 2024, with the presence of socialist MEPs Pedro Marques, Maria Manuel Leitão Marques, Margarida Marques and João Albuquerque, and PS leaders such as Francisco André, Jamila Madeira and Isilda Gomes.

The closing session of this forum, which has as its central theme the measures for youth included in the Government's State Budget proposal for 2024, will have interventions by António Costa and the leader of JS, Miguel Costa Matos.

In relation to the other plenary sessions with socialist activists and sympathizers, the PS has scheduled sessions this Sunday with the Minister of the Presidency, Mariana Vieira da Silva, in Crato (Portalegre), and on Monday with the Minister of Culture, Pedro Adão e Silva in Castro Verde (Beja).

On Tuesday, the Minister of Housing, Marina Gonçalves, will be in Famalicão (Braga) and the Minister of Agriculture, Maria do Céu Antunes, in Cadaval (West region). On Thursday, the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Ana Mendes Godinho, presents the Budget at the Federation of the Urban Area of ​​Lisbon (FAUL) of the PS and, next Friday, the Minister of Education, João Costa, marks presence in Santa Maria da Feira (Aveiro).

Regarding the second week of this initiative, on the 21st, the Assistant General Secretary of the PS, João Torres, will have a session at the headquarters of the PS Guard Federation, while the Minister of Health, Manuel Pizarro, will travel to Vila Praia de Âncora (Viana do Castelo) and the Minister of Infrastructure, João Galamba, to Santa Comba Dão (Viseu).

Next, on the 22nd, the PS holds plenary sessions with the ministers of Economy, António Costa e Silva (Bragança) and of Internal Administration, José Luís Carneiro, in Leiria.

The Minister of Finance, Fernando Medina, presents the Budget to socialist activists and supporters in Setúbal on October 24th, and two days later it will be the turn of the Deputy Minister and Parliamentary Affairs, Ana Catarina Mendes, to have the same session in Gondomar (Porto) .

On October 27, the last day of the initiative, there will be meetings with the ministers of Justice, Catarina Sarmento e Castro, in Sabrosa (Vila Real), Coesão, Ana Abrunhosa in Tavira, Foreign Affairs, João Gomes Cravinho, in Évora, as well as with the socialist parliamentary leader, Eurico Brilhante Dias in Coimbra and with the Prime Minister's Deputy Secretary of State, António Mendonça Mendes in Tomar (Santarém).

The PS also intends to promote a session to present the Budget proposal in Penamacor (Castelo Branco), on October 23rd, but, according to this party, the speaker has not yet been confirmed.
