Rain is expected to arrive in the Algarve on Saturday, temperatures will also drop

Maritime agitation will also increase from Sunday the 15th

Rain will return to the south of the country on Saturday, October 14th, according to the forecast from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA). Maximum temperatures will also drop.

Thus, the hot and dry weather of recent weeks will give way to rainy weather and a drop in temperature. The anticyclonic ridge that extends from the western Mediterranean to the Madeira region will move southeast and weaken, allowing the approach and passage of a cold frontal surface on the 13th and 14th.

According to IPMA, «rainfall is expected to occur initially on the North coast, which will gradually extend to the entire territory, and in the South region it will be more likely on the 14th».

The maximum air temperature values will register a decrease on the 13th, between 4 and 8°C, especially in the North, Center and Alto Alentejo regions and should continue to decrease on the 14th and 15th throughout the territory, although less sharply.

«The minimum temperature values should have minor variations, although with a tendency to decrease. On the 15th, the approach of a depression, which will center west of the Iberian Peninsula, carrying in circulation a mass of hot air with a high water vapor content, possibly remaining in the region until the 17th, will give rise to persistent precipitation in most of the territory», according to IPMA.

The wind will rotate towards the south quadrant from the 12th, Thursday, and is expected to increase in intensity, particularly in the highlands and on the west coast on the 13th and 15th.

Maritime agitation will also increase from Sunday, the 15th.
