Improving the health and well-being of residents and contributing to an improvement in the quality of life is the main objective of this initiative, integrated into the policy to promote physical activity in the Municipality of Castro Marim.

«We have been working to offer the population of Castro Marin a set of programs and actions that allow them to improve their quality of life. A healthy life is intrinsically linked to practicing sports and that is why it is important that sport is accessible to everyone», highlights Francisco Amaral, mayor of Castro Marim.

The mayor also highlighted other initiatives, such as the Physical Activity Prescription Office, the “At the Beat of 60” program, the Race Marches or the Program to Combat Obesity. Another of the municipality's investments is the sports educational offer, particularly in Pre-School and through AEC's.

Castro Marim City Council also highlights its support for sports associations, both in fulfilling their activity plans and in developing and promoting the sports they offer.

Currently, the municipality's clubs and associations offer a range of diverse sports, from zumba, mountain biking, swimming, pilates, athletics, judo, self-defense, dance, triathlon and duathlon or futsal.
