Algarve will run regional “Between Dishes and Wines” until the end of November

Algarve Wine Commission launched an event to showcase Algarve wines and cuisine

Making the Algarve's wines and gastronomy known, at a special price, is the objective of “Algarve Entre Pratos e Vinhos”, an initiative by the Algarve Wine Commission whose 1st edition began yesterday, the 23rd, and lasts until the 30th of November , in restaurants in the region.

For around a month and a half, participating establishments will offer a special menu, which will feature contributions from wine producers in the region, who, like the restaurants, are CVA partners in this initiative.

«The “Algarve Entre Pratos e Vinhos” menu is available to all consumers, for a special price, which will always include a dish or snack and a pairing with one or more wines from the Algarve region. The menu may change every fortnight or it may always be the same, depending on the option of the participating restaurant», according to the CVA.

This first edition “includes wine producers from across the region, as well as more than 20 participating restaurants, spread across the municipalities of Albufeira, Lagos, Loulé, Lagoa, Faro, Portimão, Silves and Tavira. It will be possible for more restaurants to join during the initiative, so the list may increase over time».

With the 1st edition of Algarve Entre Vinhos e Pratos, CVA hopes to «stimulate the consumption of wines from the Algarve region during the low season, train human resources in the restaurant industry and boost the Algarve, at a time of lower tourist influx».

«The “Algarve Entre Pratos e Vinhos” will be more than an event: it will be the long-deserved celebration of the perfect marriage between the unique and distinct character of Algarve wines and the diversity and richness of the region's gastronomy», according to Sara Silva, president from the CVA.

In a typically less busy season, «tourists and locals will have the opportunity to experience the richness and diversity of the region», he added.

As an action focused on promoting wines from the Algarve region, the event “will also have a training component. A training session is scheduled in partnership with the Eviva Wine School and the Algarve Hotel and Tourism School, in Faro, with the aim of training Algarve restaurant workers in the history, territory, grape varieties, service and pairing of the region's wines. The action will take place in person and will be recorded for future release to all participating restaurants.

Customers who share more photos of “Algarve Entre Pratos e Vinhos” menus on social media or who have more likes in their photos, will receive a prize, respectively, a wine course at the Eviva Wine School and a voucher for a wine tourism visit one of the region's producers.

The guide to participating restaurants, which contains information about the menus, wines available and their prices, can be consulted here.
