The Algarve is under red warning until 15pm this Sunday, October 00nd, due to «strong and persistent precipitation» caused by the passage of the Bernard Depression.
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) raised the warning to red a moment ago.
After 15 p.m., the district of Faro is now under orange warning until 18pm due to precipitation.
With regard to maritime unrest, the IPMA foresees «waves from the southeast with a significant height of 3 to 4 meters, becoming southerly waves, which can reach a maximum height of 6 to 8 meters». Here, the orange warning is in effect between 12pm and 00pm.
In addition to the rain, the wind is also felt throughout the region, extending the orange warning until 18 pm. According to IPMA, gusts can reach 100 km / h.
