1100 people looked at the skies of Sagres in another Bird Watching Festival

The event already has a date set for next year: from the 3rd to the 6th of October

1100 people participated in the 14th edition of the Bird Watching & Nature Activities Festival, which took place from the 5th to the 8th of October, in Sagres.

Most of the participants came from European countries, but also from the USA, China, Ghana, Peru and Puerto Rico.

«Over the course of those days, 148 species were observed in the skies of Sagres, with emphasis on, both for their rarity in these parts, and for their interest, the Mediterranean shearwater, the great white heron, the rosy starling and of the black stork», says the Vila do Bispo City Council.

The event featured 235 activities, 135 of which were free, designed for nature lovers and families. The new features presented this year once again exceeded the expectations of the participants.

According to the municipality, «like previous years, this festival was once again a success, both due to the quality of the program presented, and the experience it provided, with rare and special bird sightings, to nature lovers, as well as the initiatives created thinking about families».

The event, organized by Vila do Bispo City Council, in partnership with the Portuguese Society for the Study of Birds (SPEA) and the Almargem Association, already has a date set for next year: from the 3rd to the 6th of October.
