Quarteira promotes dog and cat adoption action

On the 4th of October at 15:00

Largo do Centro Autárquico de Quarteira will host, on the 4th of October, an adoption action for dogs and cats, at 15pm, followed by the awareness-raising action “Social Aid Dogs: Interventions assisted by animals, assistance dogs and pet dogs”. biodetection”, organized by the Kokua Association, at 00pm.

The program serves to mark International Animal Day and also includes a dog walk, lasting around 2 kilometers, along Passeio das Dunas, at 19pm. All pets can participate in this dog walk and food donations go to Vila dos Gatos and Projeto 00 Vidas.

«Talking about animal adoption is talking about accountability. We have been working to provide shelter and better conditions for wild cats, but we would like them to have a family and this initiative reminds us of the need to help and welcome new members into our homes", says Telmo Pinto, president of JF de Quarteira.

The Municipal Center will also host the photographic exhibition “Waiting for a home”, during the month of October, by Carlos Filipe (ARA photographer), relating to the animals available for adoption, until the end of October.

Sid Richardson, president of ARA, highlights the importance that activities like this have in raising awareness of the issue of animal adoption and states that «ARA (created 5 years ago) is an exemplary association in animal welfare, working tirelessly to improve and general awareness».
