Portimonense misses a penalty and loses to Benfica 1-3

The Algarve are in 16th position

Portimonense lost 1-3 against Benfica, in a match on the 6th round of the I Football League, played this Sunday, September 24th, in Portimão. The Algarve team wasted a penalty that would have equalized in the second half.

The Algarve team didn't start the game well and didn't know how to capitalize on Benfica's mid-week defeat in the Champions League.

Schmidt's team started the game in an authoritative way. In the 6th minute, Benfica took the lead, with a great goal from Bah. The second came minutes later: Neres, assisted by Rafa, passed to Musa who, unmarked, just had to touch it (17m).

In the second half, Portimonense appeared better. At 56m, he reduced with a great goal from Hélio Varela, after a pass from Jasper. The game was restarted and the Algarve team could have scored minutes later. Morato scored a penalty (handball), but Rildo couldn't beat Trubin.

Portimonense missed a clear chance to draw... and ended up conceding 1-3, by Neres (66m), in a good counterattack move.

The Algarve team have the same 5 points and are in 16th position.
