Portimão will have sustainable tours on World Tourism Day

World Tourism Day is celebrated on September 27th

A two-hour walking tour, an electric tuk tuk ride or an electrosolar catamaran are some of the activities that the Municipality of Portimão will develop as part of World Tourism Day, which takes place on the 27th of September. 

Green investments are inspiring this year and the Municipality of Portimão is preparing activities that have as their motto one of the priorities of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), which advocates the recovery, growth and development of tourism activity in a sustainable manner.

In Portimão, the day's program begins with a two and a half hour walking tour “Ao Sabor da Maré”, the meeting point is scheduled for 9:30 am at the Alvor Sports Complex.

From the Portimão Tourist Office, located in the old Lota building, a ride in an electric tuk tuk between the city and Praia da Rocha begins at 10:00, which will be followed at 11:30 and in the same place a trip between Portimão and Alvor.

 

 

Tours on an electrosolar catamaran along the coast of Portimão to Ponta João D'Arens are scheduled for 14pm and 00pm, the meeting point will also be the Portimão Tourism Office, on the city's riverside area.

Between 9:30 am and 17:30 pm, the Portimão Tourism Office will welcome all visitors, with entertainment, promotional offers about this holiday destination and tastings of local productions, which in the case of wines have the support of the wine producer “Quinta da Penina”.

September 27th is also the day dedicated to Portimão by the Rota do Petisco, which until October 15th offers the best of the municipality's gastronomy and sweets in a few dozen restaurants, organized by the local association Teia D'Impulsos.
